What is PPH, Haemoptysis, Tumour Embolization?
Postpartum hemorrhage is heavy bleeding after the birth of your baby. Losing lots of blood quickly can cause a severe drop in your blood pressure. It may lead to shock and death if not treated. The most common cause of postpartum hemorrhage is when the uterus does not contract enough after delivery. Symptoms may include uncontrolled bleeding, decreased blood pressure, increased heart rate, decrease in the red blood cell count (hematocrit) and swelling and pain in tissues in the vaginal and perineal area.
Haemoptysis is the coughing of blood originating from the respiratory tract below the level of the larynx. Haemoptysis can manifest in a few different ways like small amounts of bright red blood, frothy sputum (phlegm and saliva) streaked with blood, dark blood and blood containing bits of food, or what appear to be coffee grounds.
Tumour Embolization is a minimally invasive procedure in which a small, thin tube (catheter) is guided into the feeding arteries of a tumor in order either to shut down the blood supply to the tumor or deliver tumor embolization or tumour killer surgery directly to the tumor.
